Officials from the Health Department in Badung have announced ambitious plans to build a 500-bed “tourism hospital” with international accreditation in southern Bali, with funding of Rp.40 billion (US$4.5 million) earmarked for the project.
According to initial plans the hospital will feature accommodation for 500 patients, with 138 of them in a specially reserved wing for international patients. Officials say that they hope to obtain US-based Joint Commission International accreditation for the hospital. Currently only two Indonesian hospitals — both in Jakarta — are accredited as meeting that standard.
